Joyce Mason
California RMDZ Program
Joyce has worked for the State of California for 29 years, over
half of them in waste management and recycling.
She is a five-year veteran of the Recycling Market Development
Zone (RMDZ) program. The RMDZ offers money-saving technical and
financial assistance to manufacturers who make products made
from recycled materials. Joyce also served Coordinator of the
California Materials Exchange (CalMAX) during its early years,
the want ads where the trash of one business becomes the
treasure of another.
She has been a policy analyst for two State agencies and is the
author of a groundbreaking study on siting waste management
facilities. Her passions are creativity, collaboration, acting
as a facilitator, and helping businesses grow.
Writing is her favorite medium. Joyce has many publications to
her credit in her recycling career and many more on holistic
health and personal growth. She is an active member and Past
President of Trash Talkers, her job site chapter of Toastmasters
International. Joyce has a BA in Social Welfare from the
University of Wisconsin and considers planetary stewardship a
logical extension of her first career as a social worker.
