Andy
Gibbs is the founder and CEO of PatentCafe, the Internet's
largest intellectual property network of patent, trademark and
copyright information, software, products and services.
He was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to a three
year term on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Public Patent
Advisory Committee
which reports to the President and Judiciary
Committees on matters related to the management of the U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office.
Gibbs is a member of the Board of Directors, Intellectual
Property Owners Association, and is a member of the National Association of
Patent Practitioners, the
Licensing Executives Society International,
and the Patent Information Users International.
Mr. Gibbs has founded 7 companies, and has issued and pending
patents for medical devices, electronic connectors, sporting
goods, automotive accessories, software and methods of business.
He helped develop the world's first home satellite TV systems,
LCD watches, flat screen color CRTs, 3-1/2" floppy disks,
miniature electronics connectors, ink jet printers and
semiconductor testing equipment.
Mr. Gibbs regularly speaks to inventors, intellectual property
policy makers, patent law and research professionals and
government patent office officials internationally, and has
spoken at conferences sponsored by the World Intellectual
Property Organization, a United Nations IGO in Hong Kong,
Bulgaria and the UK.
He has appeared on CNN, the Ananda Lewis Show, the Discovery
Channel, and numerous TV and radio talk shows, and has been
interviewed or profiled by more than 100 major media companies
including Forbes, Wired News, Information Today, USA Today,
Bloomberg Washington Report, Time, National Law journal,
Intellectual Property Today, and others.
He has been a contributing editor for Entrepreneur.com and
Inventors' Digest Magazine, and has published more than 50
articles relating to intellectual property management, and has
been retained to author a series of intellectual property books,
beginning with Essentials of Patents.
